    Gresham’s Law: Bad …
    Gresham’s Law: Bad money chases good money out of circulation. Gold is good money, and when people perceive that a nation’s currency is losing value they cash it in for gold. This creates gold runs and collapses the system. This is mistakenly thought to be gold’s fault.

    A money supply of $200 backed by 10 oz of gold, gold is worth $20/oz. If law fixes the price of gold at that level, then creates another $150 of money supply, the real value of gold goes to $35/oz. Inflation is at fault.

    @jokertim777 this isn’t some joke. i’m not 100% familiar with gresham’s law. i will look into it. but, it does hold that the gold system is for various reasons. especially when you want your gold. so i would simply say you don’t know your facts if you ignore that. please share.

    My apologies. I thought you were discussing proactive measures to be taken now to lessen the impact of a collapsing currency to your local community (which is what I recommend). You meant setting up something AFTER a collapse. That’s a whole new ballgame.

    Its against State …
    Its against State Law to operate a business using the work “Bank” or that handles any banking transactions without being licensed and charter by that State (at least where I live). Because, believe me, I’ve thought about it. Government doesn’t just let anybody mess around with money, so check into your local laws before starting your own bank.

    “gold standard only works if nobody wants to trade in their dollars for gold”

    Pretty bold statement there, the only problem is…. you’re wrong.

    Go read about the Bank of Amsterdam (1600-1750) the longest running and most stable bank in the history of human civilization (used a gold standard).

    The problem is not gold, its fractional reserves and trying to artificially peg the price of gold to a currency you are inflating. Gresham’s Law.

    Any questions?

    I heard Kathryn Austin Fitts say that there were 6400 different counties in the USA.

    At the end of the FIRST great depression, there were almost 6400 LOCAL currencies in circulation.

    That little piece of history might be coming our way once again.

    I know someone that has a place in Berkshire Massachusetts, but wasn’t aware there was a local currency between some of the business there.

    The State of North Dakota has a somewhat independent banking system (within the state) but still uses the dollar.

    Wish I could provide more information.

    End the Fed!!!

    @radon1234567 gold …
    @radon1234567 gold standard only works if nobody wants to trade in their dollars for gold. today, as you know, it’s faith in the government that drives america’s economy. right now the world isn’t reflecting to highly on that faith, but down times are down time. we have a right to check ourselves. america will learn from her mistakes like she has in the past.

    private fed res …
    private fed res bank took over money supply in 1913 the fed reserve notes we use INSTEAD of actual U.S. dollars are worth 1.6 percent of what they were worth vs. gold, and 7% vs silver. An actual dollar is supposed to be made of 371.25 grains of siver which is .85 ounce silver, or 1/15 that in gold. After the criminal fed bank took over they quickly begain stealing our money by taking the gold/silver that backed our real dollars. To make the coins as worthless as the notes they took silver out.

    With Local Curriencies, local city governments could employ people to pave roads, schools, farms, just about everything, perhaps there will be a way for them to be federal income tax exampt because they’re not getting federal reserve notes which basically means their still unemployed but employed by local gov. That would be a great way to stick it to the Fed and cronies in D.C.
