From February 1, travelers who show up at the airport without a Real ID could be forced to pay $45 to fly under a new enforcement policy from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The authorities point out that the rules seek to ensure that all passengers travel with their own valid identification.Identity verification through ConfirmID is expected to take an average of 10 to 15 minutes,The form and payment portal can be accessed via a link on Pay.gov, which is also pinned on the TSA.gov website.

How to apply for the Real ID?

  • Request it from the DMV of the corresponding state
  • Present proof of identity (passport or birth certificate)
  • Provide Social Security number Provide two proofs of address
  • Demonstrate legal residency in the United States
  • Accepted documents and warnings before travelling

In addition to the REAL ID, TSA allows travelers to fly with alternative approved documents, including:

  • Valid US passport
  • USA Passport Card
  • Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST credentials
  • Department of Defense identifications Green card or border crossing card
  • Documents from Federally Recognized Tribes

The official recommendation is clear: check the documentation before traveling.
